เมื่อเวลา 10.50 น. ของวันที่ 23 ม.ค. 63 พล.ต.อ.จักรทิพย์ ชัยจินดา ผบ.ตร. พร้อมคณะ แถลงข่าวถึงผลการเข้าจับกุม นายประสิทธิชัย เขาแก้ว หรือ ผอ.กอล์ฟ อายุ 38 ปี ข้าราชการครู และผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียนวัดโพธิ์ชัย จังหวัดสิงห์บุรี ผู้ต้องหาคดีโจรปล้นร้านทองออโรร่า สาขาในห้างสรรพสินค้าโรบินสัน ลพบุรี และก่อเหตุยิงประชาชนเสียชีวิต 3 ราย บาดเจ็บ 4 ราย

 ทั้งนี้ นายประสิทธิชัย สารภาพว่า “เกิดจากปัญหาส่วนตัว แล้วก็ปัญหาเรื่องการเงินของตัวเอง ที่การยิงคนอื่น ทำเพราะเปิดทางให้กลัว คิดล่วงหน้ามา 2-3 วัน ตอนปีนขึ้นตู้กระจก ถุงมือมันเข้าไปติด   ผมพยายามขยับออกมันก็กระตุกไปที่ไกลปืน ส่วนที่ผมยิง รปภ.เพื่อเปิดทาง ลูกกระสุนแฉลบไปทางเด็ก ไม่ได้ตั้งใจยิงเด็ก ผมรู้สึกสำนึกผิดกับกระสุนที่โดนเด็ก สำนึกและเสียใจกับการกระทำ ผมก็พยายามทำตัวปกติ ไม่ได้คิดหนี แต่ทุกครั้งที่เห็นข่าวก็เสียใจกับการกระทำ ขอโทษน้องไทตัล ขอโทษพนักงาน ผมเสียใจครับ”

สำหรับจุดเริ่มต้นในการจับกุม เจ้าหน้าที่ชุดปฏิบัติการกองปราบฯ ได้เข้าตรวจสอบข้อมูลรายชื่อผู้ที่สั่งซื้อท่อเก็บเสียง (Silencer) จากโรงงานที่ลักลอบผลิตท่อเก็บเสียง จนได้ข้อมูลผู้สั่งกล่องเก็บเสียงจากโรงงานผลิตในพื้นที่ จ.สมุทรสงคราม ตั้งแต่เดือน ส.ค.2562 ผู้สั่งซื้อเป็นคนอยู่ในพื้นที่ จ.ลพบุรีโดยทราบในเวลาต่อมาว่า คือ นายประสิทธิชัย โดยพยานแวดล้อมพบว่า นายประสิทธิชัย เป็นผู้ที่ชื่นชอบเรื่องปืน และเคยนำปืนพร้อมท่อเก็บเสียงมาใช้ยิงหลายครั้ง จากนั้นเจ้าหน้าที่ใช้เวลารวบรวมพยานหลักฐานสืบสวนอีก 7 วัน จนเชื่อมโยงว่าเป็นผู้ลงมือก่อเหตุดังกล่าว จึงได้ประสานให้พนักงานสอบสวนกองปราบปรามรวบรวมพยานหลักฐาน ขออำนาจศาลอาญาออกหมายจับ เมื่อค่ำวันที่ 21 ม.ค.ที่ผ่านมาต่อมา เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจกองปราบ เห็น นายประสิทธิชัย ขับรถเก๋งบีเอ็มดับเบิลยู รุ่นซีรีส์ 5 สีดำ หมายเลขทะเบียน 7กณ 493 กรุงเทพมหานคร จึงได้ขับรถติดตามจนพิสูจน์ทราบว่าคนในรถ คือ นายประสิทธิชัย หรือ ผอ.กอล์ฟ เมื่อเจ้าตัวขับไปจนถึงบริเวณทางหลวงสาย 311 ต.ท่าวุ้ง ตำรวจจึงได้ขับรถปาดหน้าแสดงตัวจู่โจมจับกุม นายประสิทธิชัย ไม่ทันตั้งตัว และไม่ขัดขืนหรือต่อสู้เจ้าหน้าที่แต่อย่างใด เพราะตั้งตัวไม่ติดสำหรับรายชื่อเหยื่อที่โดน นายประสิทธิชัย กราดยิงมีทั้งสิ้น 7 รายดังนี้

2. นายธีรฉัตร นิ่มมา รปภ.ของห้างโรบินสัน เสียชีวิต

4. นางสุภาวดี ชุมสนิท ถูกยิงที่ท้องและแขนข้างซ้าย

5. นายประเสริฐ คงสี ถูกยิงที่หน้าอก

6. นางสาวเปรมวิภา กลิ่นดอกแก้ว ถูกยิงที่อกขวาและขาซ้าย

7. นายยุทธการ ชุมสนิท ถูกยิงที่อกขวา
